Alpaca -- Cotton -- Flax -- Llama -- to name just a few--------------------------- fiber
Our fibers come from a variety of places. Some we buy commercially, but when possible, we like to buy direct from the small producers. It is great fun to meet the people who produce the fiber and sometimes we get to meet the animals too. The commercial fibers are of course very clean and top quality and on the whole so are the fibers from the back yard farmers. However, they do not have the equipment the commercial companies have, so sometimes you might have to pick over the fiber. To help you decide, we have a grading system:

Grade 1: Top of the line, ready to spin, felt, or whatever. Usually the highest price also.

Grade 2: Medium, has been washed, and hand picked. You might have to pick over as.you spin, . . . . . . . . . . . . but it will be minimal. The middle price range.

Grade 3: This stuff is raw! Comes straight from the animal. Unwashed, unpicked, . .................unanything. Cheap! We always wash a sample to make sure it cleans up.nicely.

Most of our fibers are natural, we have a few hand dyers that love to dye fibers, so we have some dyed fibers, and we can always custom dye to your specifications. The listing below are fibers we normally have in stock.

Alpaca, Alpaca/blends, Angora, Cotton, Cotton/blends, Flax, Llama, Merino, Merino/blends, Mohair, Mohair/blends, Montadale, Rambouillet, Ramie, Ramie/blends, Silk (bricks, caps, rovings) and Suffolk. Also, the fine Metallic fibers to be combed in for a little flash.

We have sources for other animal fibers (camel, yak) but do not stock it as we have not had a large demand. We also have sources for kid curls and both sheep and goat pelts. Samples are available for a small charge that will be credited to your order. We do not have sample cards made up as we purchase from small producers that cannot produce large quantities of the same fibers. We will be most happy to make up samples of what is available now.
